Principal's Message
Welcome to Pleasant Knoll Middle School!
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to our Knighthawk family. I am honored to serve as the principal of this school and look forward to working with students, families, and staff during the 2024-2025 school year. I do not take lightly the privilege that it is to be a part of such a supportive school community and work alongside some of the best professionals who value the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
I am a K-12 product of Fort Mill Schools and always knew I wanted to return home to serve students in the place that I fell in love with education. This will be my ninth year in education. I graduated from USC Upstate with a BA in Secondary Education for Math, Queens University with a Masters in Educational Leadership, Winthrop University with an EdS in Educational Leadership, and Clemson University with an EdD in Education Systems Improvement Science.
From the day I set foot on campus, I could feel the immense positive culture and the family feel that Pleasant Knoll offers every day. I am committed to maintaining the excellence that has already been achieved and continuing to focus on high achievement and positive school culture. I truly believe that each member of our PKMS family plays a key role in our students’ success, and I could not ask for a better school community to be a part of.
At Pleasant Knoll, our staff works hard to provide our students with the necessary skills to make a smooth transition from elementary school and on to high school. We embrace the changes throughout the middle school years and help our students grow and learn in an ever changing world. Our motto here at PKMS is that “ Every day is an opportunity…”; an opportunity to be kind, work hard, learn something new, to be thoughtful, connect with someone, have fun, and so much more. We take pride in building meaningful relationships and delivering high quality, 21st century instruction so that our students are prepared to achieve all of their future goals.
I cannot accurately express how excited I am to welcome our smiling students back to campus this year. I cannot wait to have a front row seat to their innovative ideas, high-quality conversations, and kind actions as I watch them grow into leaders every day. Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education with us. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Go Knighthawks,
Dr. Ellen Borland
